By Trish Lyons, Plant Sale & Auction Committee Chairperson
Our September Online Auction is open for bidding from September 13-23. We have unusual plants that come from the personal gardens of members Nancy DuBrule-Clemente and Robert Herman. There are also non-plant offerings such as dinner with wine for 8, an academic coach/tutor, or artwork.
Each month, we will offer new items for auction or sale. Larger items and live plants will need to be picked up by the winning bidder. Other smaller items can be mailed to winners.
Once our public health issues pass, we will likely return to having a live auction as we have done since the 1950s. Until then, here is how you can help to safely generate scholarship dollars:
- ONLINE AUCTIONS – Please bid/buy an auction item! Donated items include: artwork, plants, tutoring, events and more! If you have something you want to donate to the online auction, contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
- CASH DONATIONS – click here (cthort.org/donate) to specify how you would like your donation to be used. Options include: scholarship, speaker funds, and general expenses.
- % OF SALES DAYS – we are looking to partner with organizations that would be willing to donate a percentage of their sales for a day/weekend to CT Hort. If you are one, please let us know at email@example.com. We will do all we can on our end to promote the partnership to our members and contacts.
If you have something you’d like to donate or want to help with this effort, please email firstname.lastname@example.org or call the office at 860-529- 8713. Plants are always welcome – but be sure to think outside the box. Maybe you are a chef willing to cook a meal for a small group. Or, you might have a service you’d be willing to donate… a few hours of weeding, pruning or garden coaching? How about a weekend at your vacation home? Please remain open-minded at what might generate interest and, consequently, funds for our students. Thank you.
