This presentation is for gardeners who want to go beyond the basics and explore the science and techniques of dahlia growing. Topics include seed production and hybridizing\, tuber production\, taking both pulled and leaf cuttings\, integrated pest management\, and fertilizing for strong\, healthy plants. Whether you’re curious about breeding new varieties or simply want healthier\, more productive plants\, this talk will give you practical insights and plenty to geek out about. \nMerrie Avallone is a Connecticut flower farmer who specializes in growing dahlias. With more than 30 years of gardening experience\, she cultivates a wide collection of varieties on her farm and sells dahlia tubers to gardeners across the country. Merrie grows using organic\, sustainable practices and is passionate about helping others successfully grow and enjoy these extraordinary flowers. She loves sharing practical knowledge—from selecting varieties to growing healthy plants and harvesting armfuls of blooms.
