Benefits of Individual / Family / Student Membership:

  • CT Hort Newsletter and Website: The CT Hort Newsletter (10 issues/year) and the cthort.org website are your sources for:
    • Member and gardening updates
    • Profiles of upcoming speakers
    • Travel offerings
    • Statewide horticultural events
    • Horticulture book reviews
    • Educational information
  • Connect with  Horticultural Enthusiasts: Satisfy your desire to continue learning and growing. Before each speaker meeting, member have time to chat over coffee and dessert. You’ll also find a professional horticulturalist to answer your questions or to discuss a gardening challenge you are facing. We also encourage our business members to share information about their services at meetings.
  • Travel Programs: CT Hort opens the door to the gardens of the world with its adventurous travel program. From a day trip to gardens in a neighboring state, to a week in Bangkok, members are offered a variety of specially priced group outings focused on horticulture themes, while always including other areas of interest as well. Trips are arranged by Friendship Tours and include behind-the-scenes access not available to the general public. It would be difficult to find such an array of garden adventures anywhere else. Special pricing and packages are publicized to CT Hort members only.
  • Speaker Programs: Each season, CT Hort develops an outstanding program of speakers, many of whom are nationally recognized. Topics discussed can range from garden design to heirloom vegetables. CT Hort Speakers are experts in their fields and many have published books and magazine articles and appeared on television. The nine program meetings held each year offer a time to share experiences with and seek advice from fellow gardeners. You’ll gain new ideas and inspiration from informative speakers, see slides of  plants that are new to the trade, participate in plant raffles and keep up to date in the world of horticulture.
  • Workshops: The CT Hort Education Committee works throughout the year to plan workshops of interest. Held across the state, these events are led by local experts who provide guidance and knowledge across a wide range of topics – from pruning tips to planting for pollinators.
  • Semiannual Plant Sales & Auctions: The spring and fall plant sale and auctions present the opportunity to purchase unusual plants. Donations come in from renowned nurseries, the University of Connecticut and members’ own gardens. Proceeds have been funding scholarships for deserving horticulture students at UConn since 1959 and at Naugatuck Valley Community College since 2010.
