NOFA Presents a Seed Cleaning Workshop Oct. 20

October 14, 2021

Bill Braun is a farmer at Ivory Silo Farm in Westport, MA, growing organic vegetables, herbs, flowers, fruit, and seed. He is also the co-founder and executive director of Freed Seed Federation, a farmer-run 501(c)3 nonprofit dedicated to place-based seed for the people.

At this workshop, we will tour the 17 species of native plants in Founder Plots that are producing restoration seed for The Ecotype Project of CT NOFA. Learn how we are growing, collecting, and cleaning restoration seed to supply our ecoregion of the Northeast with the right plants in the right place.

Together, Bill will show us how the Winnow Wizard works- a brilliant seed cleaning instrument open to members of CT NOFA for cleaning all types of seed.

Learn how to process your seed crops as we demonstrate how to utilize this equipment for on-farm seed saving.

Please pre-register as spaces are limited.
