Untermyer Gardens: Past, Present, & Future” with Timothy Tilghman

January 27, 2022

The Connecticut Horticultural Society is thrilled to welcome Timothy Tilghman, who will present  “Untermyer Gardens: Past, Present & Future.” The virtual discussion is at 7pm and is followed with a Q&A.
Tilghman, head gardener at Untermyer Gardens Conservancy, introduces us to this celebrated property, its recent restoration of its 43 acres in Yonkers, NY, and how it is being cared for today by the Untermyer Gardens Conservancy.

In 1899, Samuel Untermyer purchased Greystone, the former estate of Samuel Tilden. In the 41 years Untermyer owned Greystone, he transformed the gardens and greenhouses into some of the most celebrated gardens in America. The Conservancy was founded in 2011 and collaborates with the City of Yonkers to facilitate the restoration of Untermyer’s gardens. Untermyer Park and Gardens is a City of Yonkers public park.
The talk is free for members and $10 for non-members. Click here to register.
