This popular workshop is SOLD OUT! Thank you for all the interest!!!
Recap: The event was well attended and Ellen Bender’s lecture was educational. The seed collection kits were fun to make and helpful when collecting seeds. The tour was engaging as we collected seed around John O’Brien’s Nursery. Â
The Connecticut Horticultural Society summer workshop will teach seed collection protocols and techniques. You’ll get the chance to build a seed collection kit and put it to use hunting for viable seeds at O’Brien’s Nursery, 40 Wells Road, Granby and in surrounding fields.
Class Instructor Ellen Bender is a master gardener, master composter, and the owner and propagator of Eden’s Natives Nursery
The evening begins with a primer on seed collection and ends with you actually searching for seeds. A Seed Swap Workshop will take place this fall to give you the chance to trade and share seeds you gather with others.
Wear comfortable shoes and clothing to walk and forage. Bring water and protection from insects and sun. Since Ellen is known for her hats, wear your favorite gardening hat as well!
Snacks will be provided, but limited due to the beautiful but rustic setting of O’Brien Nursery. Feel free to bring a brown bag meal if the timing warrants something more substantial.
Attendance fee for members is $15, guests are $20 and $5 for students with valid ID. Click on the link below to register for this interesting workshop or contact Mary Anna at the CTÂ Hort:Â [email protected]Â or 860-529-8713. The office is open on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
