Alfred Pope: An Evolution of Ingenuity celebrates the first character in Hill-Stead’ Museum’s s story. Alfred was the quiet and admirable force that made Hill-Stead possible. Yet very little was known about him until recently.

The second part of this exhibition focuses on the works Alfred collected in the context of the historic house. By recreating the period rooms during the years of Alfred’s residence (1901–1913) and hanging some of the paintings on loan in their original locations in the house, the visitor is able to appreciate how Alfred filled the house with masterpieces and shared them with the family’s friends.

This new phase provides a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to experience Hill-Stead as Alfred did.

These are four individual evenings, April 22, 23, 24, and 25. There will be a maximum of 20 guests per evening.
