NDAL offers courses this spring

New Directions in the American Landscape (NDAL.org) is offering an educational series dedicated to the art, culture, and science of ecology-based landscape design. The classes start this month and range in price from $42-$58.

1.  Meadow Making: A Brains over Brawn Approach featuring Landscape Designer Larry Weaner who will provide a deep dive into ecology-based meadow design, planting and management; as well as a series of case studies ranging from three to thirty years. Larry and Sara Weaner Cooper will also briefly share the latest updates about their highly successful experimental organic lawn-to-meadow conversion that was featured in the New York Times in Fall 2024.

2. Additionally, Landscaping with Nature: Turning Battles into Partnerships with Larry Weaner will interweave garden aesthetics with garden ecology, demonstrating how home environments can be both ecologically productive and experientially rich.

Finally, various speakers will present on a diverse array of topics in our Spring Virtual Education Series from March-April! Check out the courses and register here.

All virtual courses will be recorded and available for three months from the live date.  We are happy to offer a discount to all students and Wild Ones members.

Meadow Making: A Brains Over Brawn Approach
Native meadows can be stunningly beautiful bird and butterfly magnets that require far less maintenance than mown turn or virtually any garden bed. Sounds great, right? But it is only true if planned with an understanding of actual meadow ecology. This series will examine native meadow making through the eyes of one of its most highly respected and influential practitioners, Larry Weaner.
