Julia Kuzovkina, professor of horticulture, has been named the interim department head for the UConn Department of Plant Science and Landscape Architecture. Kuzovkina is an internationally recognized researcher whose work on native plants, willows, and biodiversity has had impacts both close to home and on a global scale.
Joining UConn in 2005, she has served in several leadership roles, and has several active grants that highlight the diversity and interdisciplinary nature of her work. Kuzovkina also currently leads the department’s Early College Experience program, connecting educators and students around the state with UConn and the unique programs offered at CAHNR. She is also involved in the New England Native Plants Initiatives.
“Dr. Kuzovkina’s dedication to all areas of UConn’s mission areas of research, teaching, and extension engagement enable her to provide unique and creative leadership,” says Kumar Venkitrayananan, CAHNR’s interim dean. “I am thrilled she has agreed to step into this role and serve the Department of Plant Science and Landscape Architecture.”
