Welcome to a presentation that will focus on the basic ecology of “the jewels of the night” – fireflies and moths, and what we can do to help save them. Lisa Newell will speak about what they need to survive and how we can manage our gardens to impact their survival: plant native plants, provide shelter, avoid pesticide use, and spread the word.
Lisa is an Ambassador for the Xcerces society for Invertebrate Conservation and volunteers in education and outreach roles. She has a master’s degree in Public health, but has spent the last 20 years as a professional gardener, lecturer and grower of native plants. In 2022,  Lisa started Rewind, a native plant nursery in Simsbury. Guests: $15, which includes lunch.
