Peter Brooks will welcome guests at his Wilton, CT home on September 8 (2-5 p.m.) to honor the memory and work of architect and landscape architect Richard Bergmann, FAIA (1935-2024). The iconic hilltop home originally designed by Bergmann in 1977 for famed race car driver Bob Sharp and updated by Thomas Kligerman in 2002, is surrounded by gardens and meadows designed by Larry Weaner Landscape Associates. (See coverage in the Nov/Dec 1983 Landscape Architecture magazine and Fall 2023 edition of Building Stone Magazine.)
Join in conversation about the architecture and Bergmann’s design intent for the FLW-inspired Japanese, mid-century modern, glass house on the brow of the hill, peruse letters from Bergmann, magazine articles and designs, and explore the apple orchard, woodland paths, zen retreats, perennial gardens, edible landscape and wildflower meadows. A one-hour walking tour of the meadows will be led by Larry Weaner (CEU credit pending). Light refreshments will be provided.
We encourage our members iof the American Society of Landscape Architects to RSVP for this limited attendance event.
